Summer Showcases - part 2

This July and August, we’re delighted to present our summer showcase evenings — and we can’t quite believe how lucky we are to have such a high-quality line-up of acts visiting the folk club.

You can also have your say: Across the two showcase nights, six acts will perform for you, and your votes will help us choose favourites to return for a double-header night in January.

For our second showcase evening on 14th August, we’re very pleased to welcome:

Matt Stringer

Matt Stringer is a guitarist, mandolin playing songwriter from Liversedge, West Yorkshire. "2026 marks 25 years since Matt first picked up an electric guitar and began teaching himself to play. Since then he has played in punk and metal bands, acoustic and folk duos and trios (for the last 3 years playing as one half of West Yorkshire acoustic folk duo Heslop & Stringer). "In 2026, Matt decided to use those experiences to put together his first ever solo collection of songs in the form of debut album “Full Circle”. "Matt’s songs are inspired by historical events, people and places as well as personal experiences from his time playing music."
